Sunscreen for Acne: No More Breakouts! – Dr. Jart Ctrl-A Sensitive Sun Protector Sunscreen

When you have sensitive, acne-prone skin, finding sunscreen for acne is often overlooked. After all, the worst thing that can happen when you have acne prone skin is that the very products you’re using to protect your skin (like sunscreen) actually make you break out.

That’s why it’s important to find what products are best for your skin, and to stop using products that do more damage.

I have acne issues occasionally, but when a pimple breaks out, I start damage control. That’s why I’m excited to try one of the highest rated sunscreens in Korea this summer – Dr. Jart Ctrl-A Sensitive Sun Protector. After a few days of using this sunscreen for acne, I noticed it didn’t make my breakout worse and it helped me cut acne and oil production.

Sunscreen for Acne: No More Breakouts! – Dr. Jart Ctrl-A Sensitive Sun Protector

While I have prescription medication for my hormonal acne now, I still break out with small spots from time to time. I have combination skin with dry spots, so there are some higher oil areas on my forehead, nose, and chin. The dry spots are usually my cheeks.

When I tried this sunscreen out, it was on a list of the most popular sunscreens in Korea. Dr. Jart is popular in general, and I’ve had some great experiences with the brand in the past.

I Try. You Buy.

As I applied Dr. Jart Ctrl-A Sun Protector, I noticed that it smells a little like basic sunscreen. It’s a thick creamy formula and once it’s spread on your face, you may notice a white cast. If you don’t wear make up, be sure to wait for it to absorb fully by patting it in to your skin instead of rubbing it in. I found that when I put dots of Dr. Jart Ctrl-A Sun Protector around my face ( forehead, nose, chin and cheeks) and patted it in, I got the best coverage.

Results for Dr. Jart Ctrl-A Sun Protector

On barefaced skin, I noticed that my chin was oily throughout the wear. But, I didn’t feel like there was a powdery finish with this one. By the end of the day, there was some mild oil build up on my cheeks (a dryer area for my combination skin) and forehead.

When I applied a cushion over this sunscreen, I noticed the oil build up starting on my chin again after 2 hours. After 4 hours, I noticed the oil continued to build on my chin and I had a light overall shine all over my face, including my forehead. Then 8 hours later, I noticed the light shine was the same as 4 hours in, and had no more excessive oil build up.

I found that when I put dots of Dr. Jart Ctrl-A Sun Protector around my face ( forehead, nose, chin and cheeks) and patted it in, I got the best coverage.

The next test was with liquid foundation. The results were the same as they were with the cushion, with no excessive oil build up anywhere but chin by end of day. There was a slight shine, but nothing overpowering or disappointing. Even though my chin felt oily, it didn’t look that bad as it could have with some other sunscreens.

My face felt and looked smoother, but this sunscreen isn’t as powdery as the Shiseido Perfect UV Protector. It only made my chin oily when I didn’t use any make up. Overall, all the oil build up was just on my chin.

As I wrote above, I have combination skin so my forehead, cheeks, nose and chin are usually the first to get oily. The shine wasn’t even that noticeable. Also, even though my chin felt oily, it really didn’t look overly shiny or greasy. This is one of my favorites, and Dr. Jart Ctrl-A Sun Protector  is a great sunscreen for acne, especially good if you have acne issues because it will protect your skin and control sebum production.
